How RULOCUS Rankings Work
A toplist is only as good as its rules. This page explains how servers are ranked on RULOCUS, how votes are verified, and what we publish so you can check our work.
The ranking
Servers are ranked by verified player votes. Every vote is cast by a player on the server's listing page, and each player can vote for a given server once every 12 hours. The vote count behind a server's rank is this calendar month's valid votes, recalculated hourly — not an all-time total, so the list reflects current activity rather than history. Server owners can connect their server through our callback system, so votes can reward players in-game.
Vote verification
Every vote passes through multiple layers of verification. We deliberately don't publish what those layers check — a detailed list would be a manual for cheaters — but we can tell you how they behave:
- Some checks run the moment a vote is cast. A vote that fails them is never counted.
- Other checks run later, on purpose. A vote that counts right now can still be invalidated minutes or hours afterwards, as patterns emerge that no single vote reveals.
- The system is reviewed and updated continuously. The current generation has been in place since 2021 and has held ever since.
The result: buying, botting or trading votes is a losing game on RULOCUS. Not because we say so, but because the results are public.
The daily audit
Every day, the anti-spoofing audit runs across every server. The results aren't shown as one site-wide number — they're published per server, on that server's own Statistics page (linked from its listing), as a 30-day chart of valid votes against votes that were caught and removed. We publish the results rather than the method — that's what keeps the list honest without handing cheaters a how-to guide.
Server of the Day
Server of the Day is selected automatically, once a day. Any server with 50 or more valid votes in the past 24 hours is eligible, and the day's pick is chosen at random among them — not ranked, not curated. If no server reaches that threshold, eligibility falls back to any server with at least one vote in the past 24 hours. Staff can occasionally set a specific Server of the Day manually; day to day, selection is automatic and random.
Editorial standards
Listing descriptions on RULOCUS are written to be informative rather than promotional: what a server is, not why it's "the best". Server owners can edit their own listing's description, and every edit is checked against that same standard before it goes live. Promotional rewrites are rejected; the listing keeps its previous text.
Reviews
Reviews start as real answers from real voters: after voting for a server enough times, some players are invited to answer a short question about their experience. We use AI to lightly edit those answers — fixing typos, censoring profanity, and turning a one-word answer into a full sentence — while keeping the player's own wording and meaning intact. Submissions that look like spam, advertising, or duplicates of an existing review are filtered out automatically and never published.
