The Fair-Play Audit: 5 RSPS Where You Can Actually Reach the Top for Free

Let’s be honest: the RSPS scene depends on microtransactions and donations… after all, that’s how server owners can afford to pay developers and hosting. But nothing demotivates faster than a “wallet warrior” who buys the best gear on day one while you’re stuck grinding, because you don’t have the money to spend (or actually respect the grind).

We dug into the latest verified reviews from the RULOCUS community to find the RSPS where you can actually earn your way to the top if you don’t have the money for microtransactions.

Note: This is a curated selection based on recent player feedback. If a server isn’t mentioned here, it doesn’t mean it’s P2W—these are just the ones currently being praised for their fairness by recent player reviews.

1. Kavros

Kavros is an RS3 project that has solved the donor problem by letting you earn your status through actual gameplay.

  • The “Free” Donor Feel: According to Donald_Trump (we would recommend a username change… 🤣), the way Kavros handles donation ranks is “A+,” allowing you to enjoy perks and ranks without having to pay anything.
  • Quality of Life: The staff team is super active, helping newcomers get on their feet as they start their RS3 journey.

2. LegacyScape 667

A name that is not big, but worth mentioning. Finding a high-quality 2011-era server that isn’t dominated by microtransactions is rare, after all, servers need the money to stay online. But players say this project is doing it right. Most likely due to the fact that LegacyScape is not a major server, this server seems to be running fine with no to minimal microtransactions.

  • The Vibe: Player Tyler highlighted that this is one of the only “non-p2w” servers they’ve ever found, with a devoted owner who actually listens to the community. We would like to correct Tyler, as there are plenty of others to be found, but it definitely is worth mentioning LegacyScape 667.
  • Why it works: It’s built for players who want that old-school nostalgia without the “pay-to-skip” mechanics.

3. Lunar RSPS

This is a newer project (launched early 2026) that is already making waves for its unique progression and fair-play model.

  • F2P Perks: Player loot mentioned that a big draw here is the ability to get donator rankings as a Free-to-Play (F2P) player. That is interesting, becoming a donator without donating. We’ve heard of it before but never understood how that works. Who can explain this to us, on our Discord?
  • The Grind: It’s described as “grindy but fun” with clear systems that don’t feel like a second job.

4. EmberHold

EmberHold focuses on OSRS content but ensures that the playing field stays level for everyone.

  • No Donor Needed: Browniebeef reported that the game is very well balanced and you “don’t ever need donor status” to reach the end-game.
  • The Content: With over 100 perks and up-to-date OSRS raids, there’s plenty to do while you build your character power.

5. Conquest

Conquest uses a seasonal system to keep things fresh, ensuring that the economy doesn’t get stale or bloated.

  • Fair Trading: Yakui noted that with the trading post and item history, every transaction feels fair and transparent.
  • Custom Feel: It isn’t a “copy-paste” server. Jounii mentioned that almost everything you see is unique, so you aren’t just playing the same game you’ve seen a dozen times before.

How we did this: Ratings and findings are pulled directly from verified player reviews on the RULOCUS directory (April 2026).
